We can’t let the men have all of the fun! It’s time for the Ladies of OPCC to try their hand at throwing axes. Join your fellow strong women of God on Wednesday, September 26th, starting at 6:45 PM at Blade & Timber - Town Center Plaza in Leawood, KS. We will be taught the art of slinging axes by a professional and enjoy some quality time cheering each other on as we try it out ourselves. All levels of throwing ability are welcome. There will be a limited number of spots available to watch if you are not able to throw, so reach out to Kathy Wolfe or Abby Holbrook if that is you. You will pay at the event and can likely expect it to be about $20-30 per person. This location has a kitchen if you work up an appetite from the arm workout. Join OPCC for a special Labor Day Sunday worship service at YCORP Park in Bucyrus, Kansas. We will not meet at the church on this Sunday. We will meet at YCORP (207th and Pflumm) for a brief devotion at 10AM to be followed by a softball tournament, lunch, fellowship, yard games, fishing, and activities for the kids. Bring a lawn chair, pole, and some friends. We do ask that you use our online registration for this event to help us plan for food. The coed softball tournament is for ages 16 and up. If you would like to play in the softball tournament you will have the option to sign up when you register. Invite your friends and come have a blast this Labor Day Sunday, September 1st, at 10AM.
Sunday, July 21st, OPCC Youth will gather at the Rafie's home for a time of fellowship, fishing, volleyball, and worship. Event will take place from 6:00 PM- 9:00 PM. Plan to meet at their home and not at the church. This is an awesome opportunity for students to invite friends to join. Dinner and desserts will be served. See you there!

Sunday, June 23rd, OPCC Youth will meet at T-Bones Stadium for an afternoon of baseball and fellowship. We will meet at the stadium at 12:50 PM. Carpools can be coordinated between parents. Tickets will be approximately $10 and will be paid at time of registration. Please send student with an additional $10-$15 for food and drink at the stadium. Students will need to be picked up at the stadium around 4:00 PM. Parents are welcome to drop and go or stay and enjoy the game with us! This event will take the place of our usual youth group. We will not meet at 6PM at the church on Sunday night. Please register below if you would like to join us!

Encounter Teen Camps exists to support local churches in their effort to reach lost students in their community and to raise up a generation of teenagers who have an authentic walk with God and who actively share their faith. Throughout the week of camp, there is a high priority on Scripture, relevant worship, relationships within the local church, and providing opportunities for students and sponsors to sharpen their skills and prepare to consistently serve God after camp.
Encounter Camps are at Talihina, OK at the Kiamichi Baptist Assembly campground. It is for students grades 6th through 12th (grade just completed).
Camp cost this year will be $200 and include: camp admission + all food and lodging for the week and a t-shirt.

Mark your calendars for this year's men's trip! We will be headed out to the Walnut Ridge Ranch for a weekend of fun, manly adventures and a solid dive into what God has for us as men this year in our community. We will spend a couple of days in the word, fellowshipping together, shooting guns, fishing and getting connected. Guest speaker announced soon. Sunday, December 23 at 10am OPCC will celebrate the birth of Jesus with a special Christmas family service during our normal worship time. The nursery will be available but the rest of the kids will join us upstairs. We encourage you to invite your friends and family to join you for this celebration.
On November 19th at 6:00pm, the Women of OPCC will be going to the Vintage Park Assisted Living facility to spend time and fellowship with the residents who live there. This is a great opportunity for us to pour into the residents there and shower them with love and encouragementinto them. Join us after church Sunday, November 18th for a time of fellowship, food, and our annual business meeting. We will be having a potluck meal themed "Thanksgiving Feast." This meeting will be much like our usual potlucks with an added section where we can share with you where we are at with our yearly budget and how we are using what God provides us to support this church, its congregation, the community, and the world. This is Trunk or Treating done one step further! We will have a great display of decorated cars to trick or treat at along with carnival games, face painting, and a cake walk. Invite your friends, neighbors, and anyone who is looking for a good family friendly time.

On October 20th the ladies of OPCC are heading to Powell Gardens. We will experience a signature festival called Glow: The Magic of Nature. The plan is to carpool from the church at 3:00 pm. The festival is 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. You can get tickets ($12 and $10 for 60+) and other info on powellgardens.org.

Listed below are the details about our September event. This will be held downstairs at the church on September 24th at 6:30 p.m.
We will be preparing 4 freezer crock pot meals (fresh ingredients get chopped up, measured, and thrown into ziplock bags and then cooked on the day of consumption - you'd never know that it was frozen first!):
Slow Cooker Sesame Chicken
Slow Cooker Mexican Chicken Chili with Cornbread (can sub beans in place of chicken for vegetarian option)
Slow Cooker Chicken Curry (can sub chickpeas in place of chicken for vegetarian option)
Slow Cooker Sweet Potato and Lentil Soup (meatless)
Each meal has at least 4 servings and should not cost more than $10 per meal. It will likely be less, but I will not know until I do the grocery shopping. Vegetarian options will cost a little less. Everyone needs to sign up no later than Monday, September 17th in order to plan and purchase adequate groceries and supplies. When signing up, please indicate if you would like any of the vegetarian options or would only like certain recipes. Those attending, please bring a knife, cutting board, measuring cups, and cooler!

On August 20th, starting at 7:00 pm, the Ladies of OPCC have planned an event participating in Harvester's 'Give Lunch' program. Lunches assembled from this food drive will be used for youth feeding programs, including the homeless teen mobile food pantry. We are asking to our entire church family to help with this project. We have a specific list of food items that we must use. A handout will be available in the foyer with more details of the program as well as the food items:
* Whole grain item (crackers, pretzels, cereal etc.)
* Protein item (single serving canned meat with pop top)
* Juice box
* Snack item (chips, mixed nuts)
* Fruit cup with pop-top
* Reduced sugar dessert (pudding or Jell-O)

The June Ladies of OPCC event will be on June 29th from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The event will be at the Theater in the Park located in Shawnee Mission Park to see the classic play, South Pacific. Encounter Camp is a week long experience for students who have completed 6th-12th grade. The dates are June 10th-15th and the cost is $150 per camper. Scholarships are available. This is an incredible time for students to connect with the Lord and each other.
Advice & Aid Pregnancy Center’s annual Walk for Life is coming up on Saturday, June 2rd, 2017 at 8:30am. The Walk for Life is a fundraiser for Advice & Aid Pregnancy Centers to allow us to serve families facing an unplanned pregnancy. This event is an opportunity to raise awareness about the life-affirming work we do for families in our community. It is a fun, family event that includes face-painting, balloon animals, prizes, food and a 2 mile walk. This is our annual OPCC Men's retreat, (18+.) It will be held the entirety of Memorial weekend May 26-28th. This is a remote floating, fishing, and camping trip on the famed Kings River in Arkansas - one of the oldest freestone smallmouth bass rivers in the United States! The March Ladies of OPCC event will be on March 24th from 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. at our church. You are invited to the Sweet Life Cafe that will consist of breakfast, lunch, worship music, God's Word, a service project and wonderful fellowship. The cost for the event is $30.00 if you register prior to March 16th. After March 16th there will be a late registration fee of $35.00.
