Sunday, December 23 at 10am OPCC will celebrate the birth of Jesus with a special Christmas family service during our normal worship time. The nursery will be available but the rest of the kids will join us upstairs. We encourage you to invite your friends and family to join you for this celebration.
On November 19th at 6:00pm, the Women of OPCC will be going to the Vintage Park Assisted Living facility to spend time and fellowship with the residents who live there. This is a great opportunity for us to pour into the residents there and shower them with love and encouragementinto them. Join us after church Sunday, November 18th for a time of fellowship, food, and our annual business meeting. We will be having a potluck meal themed "Thanksgiving Feast." Please bring your most signature dish to share! This meeting will be much like our usual potlucks with an added section where we can share with you where we are at with our yearly budget and how we are using what God provides us to support this church, its congregation, the community, and the world. This is Trunk or Treating done one step further! We will have a great display of decorated cars to trick or treat at along with carnival games, face painting, and a cake walk. Invite your friends, neighbors, and anyone who is looking for a good family friendly time.

On October 20th the ladies of OPCC are heading to Powell Gardens. We will experience a signature festival called Glow: The Magic of Nature. The plan is to carpool from the church at 3:00 pm. The festival is 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. You can get tickets ($12 and $10 for 60+) and other info on powellgardens.org.

Listed below are the details about our September event. This will be held downstairs at the church on September 24th at 6:30 p.m.
We will be preparing 4 freezer crock pot meals (fresh ingredients get chopped up, measured, and thrown into ziplock bags and then cooked on the day of consumption - you'd never know that it was frozen first!):
Slow Cooker Sesame Chicken
Slow Cooker Mexican Chicken Chili with Cornbread (can sub beans in place of chicken for vegetarian option)
Slow Cooker Chicken Curry (can sub chickpeas in place of chicken for vegetarian option)
Slow Cooker Sweet Potato and Lentil Soup (meatless)
Each meal has at least 4 servings and should not cost more than $10 per meal. It will likely be less, but I will not know until I do the grocery shopping. Vegetarian options will cost a little less. Everyone needs to sign up no later than Monday, September 17th in order to plan and purchase adequate groceries and supplies. When signing up, please indicate if you would like any of the vegetarian options or would only like certain recipes. Those attending, please bring a knife, cutting board, measuring cups, and cooler!

The men of OPCC will be Axe Throwing at Blade & Timber in Town Center on Wednesday, August 22 at 7:00 pm, arrive early. Approximate cost is $25/person, with limited slots available. Please RSVP to Dan Merkh at firstname.lastname@example.org in order to reserve your spot.
On August 20th, starting at 7:00 pm, the Ladies of OPCC have planned an event participating in Harvester's 'Give Lunch' program. Lunches assembled from this food drive will be used for youth feeding programs, including the homeless teen mobile food pantry. We are asking to our entire church family to help with this project. We have a specific list of food items that we must use. A handout will be available in the foyer with more details of the program as well as the food items:
* Whole grain item (crackers, pretzels, cereal etc.)
* Protein item (single serving canned meat with pop top)
* Juice box
* Snack item (chips, mixed nuts)
* Fruit cup with pop-top
* Reduced sugar dessert (pudding or Jell-O)

Join us August 19th immediately following service for an Beach Party themed potluck. We will meet downstairs in the OPCC kids area. We will be throwing a potluck/celebration to welcome back our pastor Jimmy from his sabbatical! This will also be an awesome chance to meet new families and catch up with church members you already know. Please utilize the sign up so we are able to have a variety of foods. The June Ladies of OPCC event will be on June 29th from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The event will be at the Theater in the Park located in Shawnee Mission Park to see the classic play, South Pacific. Encounter Camp is a week long experience for students who have completed 6th-12th grade. The dates are June 10th-15th and the cost is $150 per camper. Scholarships are available. This is an incredible time for students to connect with the Lord and each other.
Advice & Aid Pregnancy Center’s annual Walk for Life is coming up on Saturday, June 2rd, 2017 at 8:30am. The Walk for Life is a fundraiser for Advice & Aid Pregnancy Centers to allow us to serve families facing an unplanned pregnancy. This event is an opportunity to raise awareness about the life-affirming work we do for families in our community. It is a fun, family event that includes face-painting, balloon animals, prizes, food and a 2 mile walk. This is our annual OPCC Men's retreat, (18+.) It will be held the entirety of Memorial weekend May 26-28th. This is a remote floating, fishing, and camping trip on the famed Kings River in Arkansas - one of the oldest freestone smallmouth bass rivers in the United States! If you are new here and would like to learn more about the church, we invite you to join us for lunch immediately after service on Sunday, April 22nd. We will talk about our values and focus as a church as well as how to become a member here at OPCC.
The March Ladies of OPCC event will be on March 24th from 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. at our church. You are invited to the Sweet Life Cafe that will consist of breakfast, lunch, worship music, God's Word, a service project and wonderful fellowship. The cost for the event is $30.00 if you register prior to March 16th. After March 16th there will be a late registration fee of $35.00.
March 21st we will be hosting an all church wide game night! This is an opportunity for us all to spend the evening together in friendly competition and fellowship. Game night is open to all ages and will be a lot of fun! This is a good time to bring your friends and family who maybe have never been to our church. Join us March 21st from 6:30pm-9pm!
Our next small group meeting time is March 20th at 6:30-8pm in the church lobby. This evening is designed to be a great starting place for newcomers at the church and somewhere to find encouragement and relationship with other people of OPCC. We spend a lot time in prayer for one another. Join us and bring a friend! This weeks Small Group will be lead by Shay Haddock.
Spend some time with your spouse while our skilled childcare workers hang out with your children. We will have games, crafts, a movie and snacks. This is a great opportunity to refuel while your kids have a blast with other kids! Cost is $10 per kid, with a max of $25 per family. Pre-registration is required. This will be for kids 10 and under.

OPCC is providing brunch for families participating in the bridges program at Advice & Aid Pregnancy Centers. The bridges program is a parenting class and support group. We will provide brunch type foods, fruit, drinks, paperware, and plasticware for approximately 25 people (I will have a more accurate count closer to the event) followed by serving it and cleaning up at AAPC's Shawnee office (11644 W 75th St #4d, Shawnee, KS 66214). Brunch will be served at 10:30 am, so set-up should be completed by 10:20. If you are unable to attend, but would like to contribute, you can drop off a dish or other item to Ashley Rafie's house (14513 Floyd St. Overland Park, KS 66223) the evening of January 24th or morning of January 25th before 9am.
Our January Ladies of OPCC event will be fellowship time on January 15th at 6:30 p.m. We will be playing bunco and enjoying a variety of appetizers. Please bring your favorite appetizer to share and enjoy with others. We will be going to Abby Holbrook's house in Overland Park.

Launching January 10th, is our new coffee and concert series! This is a low key event centered around community, spending time with one another and enjoying great music in our lobby.
The very first artist gracing our stage will be nationally touring singer/songwriter and worship pastor of Calvary Chapel Kansas City, Sean Lea. Sean grew up deep in the ozark hills and plays a special blend of bluesy folk music.
